Fingerpicking In The Dark
Hey everyone! Here's the next episode of Brewster's Millions Of Rants with Fingerpicking In The Dark. As I shared here on RUclips and also on Facebook, the power was out here for nearly 48-hours, and during that time I found myself sitting in the dark by candlelight, playing acoustic and nylon string guitars and music. This is directly related to what you'll find hiding in this episode - so let's dive in!
The fingerstyle workout featured in this lesson was something I wrote back when I was in high school, while taking classical guitar lessons from an instructor at a local university (with Mr. Renato Butturi). To be honest, I hadn't thought about or played through this piece in a very long ...

Hey everyone! Here's another episode of Scales & Tales and yet another Pentatonic-related lesson with 'Stretch Pentatonic Scales.' I actually featured some stretch pentatonic ideas in the recent 'Power Of 5' lesson about a week ago, and since that time I've had a number of requests to feature more about this interesting/inspiring concept, and actually this lesson idea has been on the back burne...
The Pentatonic Connection

Hey everyone! Here's another episode of Scales & Tales with 'The Pentatonic Connection.' I recently posted 'The Power Of 5' lesson a few days ago and received a lot of feedback/messages from viewers that let me know it really helped them see how to approach practicing this beyond-common scale differently. So, I wanted to add this lesson hot-on-the-heels of the previous episode, which moves even...

Hey everybody! Here's the next episode of Scales & Tales with The Power Of 5. As I mention in the video, I've technically featured the material at play in this lesson before, but we're approaching it in an entirely different way. Also, this one is for the requests from new viewers out there that have asked for it, but I also noticed a conversation that started in the comment section of a video ...

I've had a number of requests to feature more of Camel's music and while I did feature them in a Chordplay lesson last year, this is the first time we've looked at some of Andrew's expressive and inspiring lead playing - so let's dive in! The licks/ideas featured in this lesson came from a live perform...
Chordplay - Implied Chords [From Blues To Van Halen]
Просмотров 8 тыс.21 день назад
Hey everyone! here's the next episode of Chordplay with Implied Chords - From Blues To Van Halen. I've had the idea for this lesson on the back-burner the entire time I've had the LNL channel, and I'm honestly not sure why it took me so long to create this lesson, as this is an eye-opening and inspiring look at the world of implied and partial chords. They're heard in every style of music and t...

The Stretchy Unison Legato Workout

Hey everyone! Here's another Just The Tip quick lesson (with no talking) and this one features a new idea I've been playing around with lately that I'm calling "The Stretchy Unison Legato Workout" - which is exactly what it is! This idea revolves around a stretchy unison fingering centered around the 12th position, and as you'll see as it unfolds, we're moving from an implied Esus4 to E major, ...

Hey everyone! Here's the next episode of Three-For-All with 3 Harvey Mandel Licks From 1971. I've noticed a few requests to features some of the legendary Harvey Mandel's music, and while most folks on the street aren't familiar with his name (or his music for that matter), his influence on rock and blues-rock guitarists in the late 1960s and throughout the 1970s cannot be understated or ignore...

how about some t-bone walker licks? a lot of younger players probably never heard of him.
This isn't a negative liked your video you know WD well but show a close up of your fretting hand or explain it clearer with an example. String, fret, finger. Love Ratt!
This is great, David, I play nylon string fingerstyle exclusively (been learning flamenco since the pandemic) so I love collecting pieces like this to practice on. Thank you!
Dave, I recall a 1980s Guitar Player (Magazine) article where Carlos Santana said he practiced in the dark for years, to develop his ear, pitch and technique to make sounds. That's always been good enough for me to do it too .. Love your channel, man. It's the most fabulous guitar channel out there. Your piece has fine emotion, enjoyed it so much.
Thank you Dave ❤
I wish I had hands that big. It would sure help.
Ahhh original love it Dave keep er going! Love Leo Brouwer being among the list ...he kinda gets lost in the shuffle...
Another great lesson, David! I wore the grooves out of that Romeros album.
Very Cool. Thanks for sharing.
Nice. Just saw Luke Nelson live playing his classical just like his dad Willie. haunting. Did a great guitar solo on it as well. Glad to see your electricity back. Rock on brother🤘
nice, needs a bit more satan though, rock on dave
Fantastic~
top upload for us guitarists.
any thoughts on a Steve Vai From Flexable Album maybe including "Little Green Men"
Wow ... another great lesson just as I had my acoustic out.🎸
Sos crack David saludos desde Argentina!!!
Wonderful original nocturn composition! Not sure if you have a name for it. `Song In the Dark` might be a good one. I noticed you and other classical guitarist don`t anchor with your pinky on the soundboard yet you still have accurate finger control. Looks like you anchor with your forearm on the guitar top and possibly wrist on the bridge area. Anyways, enjoyed this episode and hope you do more acoustic fingerpicking videos.
love that intro :)
Honestly,, I think that style limits your usually awesome creativity, and harmony, I think it would be good if you did another approach, but make it more flamenco, your rock language, and instincts are good for that

Index finger bends are something I copped from Albert. You can use them to great effect, and they're not really expected by most listeners. Especially when you adapt them to to playing genres outside the blues.
In the clips Albert is ALWAYS tapping his foot
Zakke is one of my favorites. I did security at The Showbox in Seattle and I got to meet him and get a pick with BLS. He was super cool to his fans at the meet and greet. At that same show he went into the audience and played his solo. I was one of the security guards that escorted him through the crowd. I got to watch his whole solo like 2 ft away from him, it was awesome!
Scotti hill snake Sabo licks and mick mars too 🔥🔥
Thanks for a great show...Request Wireless Band
yes sir
Great vid. Very clear and understandable. And of course, ear candy! TYFP!
Really nice, showing and demonstration of Andy Latimer emotive guitar, been a fan of Camel for years. Now I am learning it from your example. Have also pulled out my old LP collection of Camel for re-listen
Muy bueno maestro 😄👍
I played with Tiki Fullwood and recorded
I played with Tiki Fullwood in the 70“s in S.E. Washington,D. C. and we stayed up for hours recording tracks in track studio in track studio in Bethesda Maryland. In 1976. And came to Maxton, N.C. AND, met Mr. T. Ross , and I was too through and could not believe that I was among the people that I was studying their music
The world NEEDS Vito Bratta
My friend. S family owns a huge music store in70s 80s venemam in Maryland. And he asked who would I like to play with I said Al de meola. He actually hired to play the store. And I got to sit in with him it was crazy great. I bought throw away camera s. Gave them to my girlfriend to take pic. She took 2 pic. I still have it had video. But lost over the years
Awesome episode Dave, I've always loved that Without Warning as well, with the keyboard in the background and the lead guitar on top of it. Definitely a guitar god.
You hid the best part i.e., the C# note.
Thanks for busting the proverbial to get this one done, Dave. Be safe.
Albert King...STRENGTH GIANT!!! The father of steve ray Vaughan. Please do RONNIE EARL
Thanks David 👏👏💯💯💜🤍💙❤
Excellent lesson
thank heavens you have done this, awsome. More please.
cheers Dave...nice one...i like it....also 1st riff very much like one of ZZtops rythm part and a "Eric" solo on top of it....yep...good stuff....thx Eric copied Albert nearly one to one there....and i think Erics best era was his mid to late 60s gibson time....once "cream" split it was game over for me....
Dave is always melting faces, so many knowledge... Thanks for the lesson, man... Born under a bad sign is one of my favorites blues albums! Next, do a Buddy Guy lesson if you can... Wink wink... Lol 😁
Thanks for this and your other videos. The simplistic approach and breakdowns on Dimes licks that you’re showing us have helped me to start learning them.
What a great lesson. I'm impressed at the mileage you got out of that Albert King box. Inspiring!
I think the thing about Jeff was that he never found a niche in a ‘great’ band. Neither could he really write a top song (which Jimi could do). I’m not decrying his obvious skill but he struck me as a bit of a loner who never found a gang to belong to.
I don't know why, but to me, Blues Saraceno and Dweezil Zappa always played in their own whacky guitar universe. They produced such brilliant music in the nineties, but my feeling was (and still is), that it was largely overlooked and really underrated. Saraceno's first 3 albums are killer records. And Dweezil Zappa's "Confessions" is one of my personal milestones. But they're weird dudes and not made for the mainstream. So, thank you so much for shedding a light on Saraceno. Those 3 licks are super awesome!
My fav Blues Player, thanks for the lesson!❤
Only just discovered your channel, really enjoying it. Love your lessons, I like the vibe, the calm measured approach, and the insights. Cool!
Your like the cool big brother I never had!
Absolutely fantastic have a wonderful day also happy first week of summer ❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊
I always played it in C# standard on my SG to kinda get the low end but also have it for Sabbath. I couldn't justify having an SG in C# for one band
Sweet. I have a guitar in d standard. Gonna be practicing this tomorrow
